R&M Metal Finishing Ltd, specialists in powder coating for the automotive industry, is one of the first organisations in the UK to successfully make the transition from TS 16949:2009 to IATF 16949:2016 in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015.

IATF 16949:2016 was published by the IATF (International Automotive Task Force, Globally) and is set by a group of automotive manufacturers which aims at providing improved quality products to automotive customers worldwide.

IATF 16949:2016 supersedes and replaces the current ISO/TS 16949:2009, defining the requirements of a quality management system for organisations that operate in the automotive industry. The new standard is shaped by tighter requirements and controls in all areas of the business with its ultimate aim to harmonise the different assessment and certification systems in the global automotive supply chain.

The certification is a significant reward for the collective team effort at R&M who worked tirelessly non-stop for a year, which required us to rewrite multiple aspects of the procedures and systems to ensure compliance to this international standard for the automotive industry creating a full and comprehensive quality management systems manual using risk management and a multi-disciplinary approach in all aspects of this standard.

This fantastic achievement means that we can guarantee our automotive customers the assurance their parts will be processed in accordance with this new standard leading to higher levels of customer satisfaction.
